Who to Start/Sit in Your Fantasy Football League

This page is used to set your starting fantasy football lineup each week. Here are a few hints:

Fantasy Lineup Deadlines

You must set your lineups prior to the start of the NFL games. In fact, you must set them prior to the scheduled start! If a game is scheduled to start at 1pm, then whether or not it starts on time, the players in that game will lock in place at exactly 1pm.

Other players whose games have not yet begun will not yet be locked. You can move them in and out of your lineup as you wish. Just make sure they're in the right place before their game starts.

Viewing Player News & Statistics

There are two ways to view news and statistics from third-party providers for players:

1. Click on the player picture to bring up a page in another tab from FantasySharks.com for this player. This will let you browse news and statistics
2. Click on the player card alongside the name to view the FantasyPros.com synopsis in a pop-up window.

Note also the projected points in [brackets]. These projections (full-season projections before the NFL season starts, and weekly projections once games begin) come from your chosen 3rd-party site. By default, that site is Fantasy Sharks. If you would like to choose another site, you will need to subscribe to a stats source through The Wonk, DataForce's integrated player analysis tool.

Moving Players In and Out of Your Lineup

DataForce software incorporates drag-and-drop functionality. You may drag a player from your bench to a place in your lineup or to Injured Reserve, replacing the player currently there and putting him on the bench, and you may drag a player from your starting lineup to the bench. You cannot move players around directly in the starting lineup.

This can get a little tricky if you want to simply move a player from one starting position to another; perhaps from a flex position to a running back position. You must first replace him in the flex spot with a player from your bench, and then move him to the running back position.

If drag-and-drop is problematic for you (perhaps because you're using a mobile device) you can always tap or click on any player on your bench, and direct the software to where you want him to go.

Setting Advance Lineups

It is possible to set lineups in advance for future weeks. Just set the lineup the way you want it, and then click SAVE to "Preserve this lineup for week [whatever you select]. When that week arrives, on Tuesday night the computer will swap your desired starting lineup in and the existing lineup out.

You'll get an email of the changes when this swap happens.

To discard an advance lineup, simply click DELETE by that week. To view it, you must restore it over the top of your existing lineup by clicking RESTORE.

How Fantasy Football Injured Reserve Works

Multi-year leagues (Keepers, Dynasties, Contract leagues, Salary Cap leagues, and Legacy leagues) not only often have larger roster sizes, they also have four injured reserve slots. This is so that if your player goes down for the year, you can set him aside and not lose him for future years.

If, and only if, a real-life NFL player is placed on injured reserve by his team, you may move him to I.R. in your fantasy league. When this becomes possible you will see a red (I) next to his name. Please don't ask us to designate a player as available for I.R.; we update our database multiple times per day, so if he's on I.R. in the NFL, he'll shortly be available to move to I.R. in your fantasy league.

When the player is reinstated from injured reserve in the NFL, he must also be removed from I.R. in your fantasy league. You have until the games start on Sunday to make room for him on your roster. (In the preseason, you have until the first Sunday of the regular season). If you do not move the player from I.R., the commissioner reserves the right to drop him from your team, or drop any player on your team to make room for him.

Players on I.R. do count at half-salary against your $200 cap in Salary Cap leagues. In Contract leagues, players on I.R. do not count against your $240 salary cap.
