Fantasy Football Slow Auction Drafts

We at DataForce Fantasy Football believe we offer the most fun email auction in fantasy sports. Our auction software lets each team nominate one player per day, so the player auction lasts roughly one day for each spot on your roster: typically a little less than three weeks.

Nominations are staggered throughout the day (each team has a specific time of day for nominating a player) and each player remains on auction for 24 hours. This means that the auctions come due at staggered times throughout the next day.

Ebay Style Proxy Bidding

All auctions are sealed bids for the first 23 hours, and then open up into a live ebay-style auction for the final hour. This uses proxy bidding, meaning you tell the software the maximum you are willing to bid, and it bids for you, so you don't have to hover over the computer all day long. You can set your bids all at one time and then go about your day, if you wish. The software will not bid more of your money than it has to in order for you to win each auction.

Tied Bids go to the First Bidder

Because sealed bids are used for the first 23 hours, there has to be a means of settling tie bids. The rule is simple: he who bids first wins. This means it's strategically better to plan your bidding careful and put your bids in as early as you can, rather than trying to steal the player at the last second. As tempting as it is to bid in the final-hour live auction, it usually costs you $1 more. Of course, auctions like this sometimes call for psychologically outmaneuvering your opponents, so it's hard to know for sure what the proper strategy is: bid early or bid late? You'll have to decide.
