What is Season-Long NFL Fantasy Football?

DataForce is a traditional fantasy football commissioner service. Our games last the entire NFL season. You begin with a draft in the summer to form your team. After the draft, you manage your team throughout the year, trading players and draft picks with other teams, picking up free agents, bidding on waiver-wire players, and setting lineups each week for your games.

The best teams advance to the fantasy playoffs and compete for prize money in weeks 15 through 17 of the NFL season.

With prize returns ranging from 82% at the low end to 98% at the high end, you won't find a better return anywhere for your money. DataForce offers Tin Baby leagues for $20 from February through June, and regular leagues begin forming at $50 per team immediately after the NFL draft each year. Our high-end games cost $1000 per team and return 98%.

On top of our high prize returns, we add bonus money to the prize pool for toilet bowl winners. Bonus money may be used to pay the commissioner fee of future league purchases.

A Variety of League Types

DataForce offers the widest variety of fantasy football leagues in the business. Everyone likes something just a little different, and we aim to satisfy.

Redraft leagues are the most common league choice, because you draft a new team every year. Owners take turns selecting players during the draft until each owner reaches a roster suze of 18 real-life NFL players for their team. Then, each week of the NFL season you select players to be in your starting lineup, and these players contribute to an overall game score. We have several different lineups for you to choose from.

Prefer redraft leagues but want to aim a little higher than a twelve-team league? You're looking for a contender league, then. In this format, four leagues of twelve teams are joined at the hip. You'll play each of the other teams in your own twelve-team league, and then have a short one-week playoff within your league to determine the four teams which will advance further.

The four advancing teams then join the best teams from your three sister leagues to form a sixteen-team four-week playoff race competing for a grand prize. This means you're essentially joining a 48-team contest, making for a more exciting prize fund.

Draftmaster leagues offer another "redraft league" variation. You don't have to make any decisions after the draft. No free agency, no trading, no setting lineups. Draftmaster leagues are bestball leagues, so the computer selects the optimal lineup for you each week.

Draftmaster leagues are for owners who don't want to be bothered with the day-to-day maintenance of their leagues. Often called one-and-done leagues or draft-n-go leagues, it's possible to participate in many more simultaneous draftmaster leagues than other formats because owner involvement is over as soon as the draft ends.

While redraft leagues remain the most popular format, there are many several multi-year leagues to choose from.

Keeper leagues add a new dimension to the traditional fantasy league. In this format, you may keep up to five players from year to year, so your team continues to exist for as long as the league lasts.

DataForce requires an additional deposit when you purchase a team, equal to the entry fee for the league, and this deposit roughly represents the value of your team. The deposit remains with the team in perpetuity. If you should one day have to leave the league, or if you just get tired of playing fantasy football, then your team becomes an orphan. We will sell your team to the highest bidder in order to keep the league alive, and instead of getting your deposit back, you get the money from the sale.

Since you are able to preserve five players from your team from year to year, strategies in keeper leagues tend to be long-range. You'll want to carefully watch the rookie market each year to look for players that might become superstars. You'll want to balance putting a strong lineup on the field this year with building a team for the future. Trading in these leagues becomes much more exciting, as you can trade draft picks not only for the current year but for the following year.

Each year a new draft takes place to let you replenish your team after dropping the players you decide not to keep.

Ready to take it to the next level? Dynasty leagues offer the chance to build a true dynasty out of your team, since there are no limits to how many players you can retain from year to year. Keep a few or keep them all, and in the annual draft, you'll choose just enough players to bring your roster back to full strength.

There are a couple of other differences that make dynasty leagues a step more intense than keeper leagues. For one, your roster sizes are a little bigger, so you can hang on to a few more potential superstars. For another, you can trade future draft picks two years in advance.

A Variety of Draft Methods

Live Drafts

In a live draft, all owners congregate in an online draft room and draft together. You'll take turns selecting players until each team is full. An online draft can take up to two hours.

Email Drafts

Email drafts are much slower, lasting up to two weeks or more. You have eight hours to make each pick, though most owners pick in an hour or less.

Live Auctions

Once you try a live auction, you may never go back to regular drafts. You have $200 in play money to spend on all your players. In a live auction, you gather with the other owners in a live draft room and bid on your players. Live auctions can take three hours or more.

Email Auctions

Email auctions present a very different experience, since in order for the auction to complete in a reasonable amount of time, several players are on the auction block simultaneously. A typical email auction lasts about three weeks.
